Here is a video of the family that the group is building a house for this week. There was a last minute change on the family we built for. Apparently there was a mix up of where the slab was to go and it was put on the wrong land. So thankfully the slabs are the same size and we were able to move to a different family to build a house for them!

Tuesday
Today was pretty much the same as yesterday. Building, playing, loving and a little baseball. Here are some pictures I took today.
Monday
They started building the house first thing. Lunch will be at the job site most likely. Then some baseball this afternoon.
This is their old house
You can see their old house on the right.
Coffee bar...check out the size of the cups? They like it STRONG so you don't need much.
The side walls going up
Building the frame for the roof on the right, painting on the right
Dominicans are usually outside a lot (vs being inside a small, cramped and hot house) so they get to interact with the neighbors and people from the community
Typical homes in this community
Very common sight in San Pedro de Marcoris
Sunday
Sunday the group attended church in the morning, ate lunch along the ocean, then met the family that they were building the house for.

Day 6 - Thursday Today was spent...building in the morning. For lunch instead of a bagged lunch as they usually had, the woman whose house they were building cooked them a traditional Dominican meal called "la bandera" which means the flag. This is what most Dominicans eat daily and it is white rice, stewed red beans and chicken, either fried or cooked in a sauce. This picture shows how they cooked the meal outside over a fire. Yum!
Part of the group did more sports outreach at a school where they had been spending some time at. The great thing about this trip is that we see the value of spending a lot of time in one area building relationships over more time than a quick 2 hour visit. Another group went walking through the village talking and visiting with the people door to door.
Day 5 - Wednesday Today was a short day. The group was getting tired and worn down, so in the afternoon they took it easy. Morning time was spent building. Here are some pictures....
Day 4 - Tuesday Today they built more of the house and in the afternoon went to a local school in San Pedro to do outreach. After they were done they had some free time to enjoy empanadas and spend a little time in the local town square.
Day 3 - Monday Today the group started the house construction in the morning and in the afternoon they went to a local school to do a sports camp with the kids. The 5 baseball players went to practice with a local team.
Day 2 - Sunday Wesleyan School in Norcross, GA arrived yesterday. They are here to build a home, play some baseball and love on some Dominicans. Today they started out with service at our church. Then they had lunch at the malecon (area near the ocean) and then went to a nearby field where we have some relationships to help clean the field and play some baseball. I am sure they will sleep well tonight!
